Vidya Gangadin (4I)

In 2012, long-time Greenville resident Ms. Gangadin was elected to the Jersey City Board of Education. In the second year of her first term (2014) she served as the Vice President to the Jersey City Board of Education and Board President in 2015. In November 2015 the community reelected Vidya to serve a second term on the board. Taking her passion and vested interest in quality education for all children even further, she rose to the occasion and served as Board President for two consecutive years (2015-2016), while chairing the Finance Committee. Vidya truly believes that our children deserve nothing less than the best and continues to be present and serve in every possible capacity. Her four public school educated children continue to inspire her to champion positive change every day.

Neil Abadie (5I)

Neil Abadie comes from a family of educators and has worked in various technology based leadership roles from Fortune 100s to startups. His passion for his community is apparent in his daily life. From being on the Board of Directors for Hudson Pride Center, to running operations for Jersey City stands, which is responsible for the rallies and vigils on Newark Avenue. Neil's Mother, Grandmother, and Grandfather were educators in his district growing up giving him a perspective on many sides of education, the student as well as the son of a dedicated educator. Neil is currently the Chief Technical Officer for SafeBus, Inc ( SafeBus provides free industry-leading GPS hardware, fleet management software, and anti-bully training at no cost to school systems throughout the United States as well as a free smartphone app for parents and students using school transportation to alert them to the bus arrival time.To honor his Mother's legacy and to link her passion to his own work Neil will bring; heart, experience, leadership, and dedication to the Jersey City Board of Education.

Dominique Smith (6I)

Dominique Smith is a proud native, and resident of Jersey City. She owes her passion for reading and writing to spending countless summers in the city’s library program. In her youth she was a student at Salem Baptist Church, Our Lady of Victory, PS. 33, First Christian Pentecostal Academy, and County Prep High School, where she benefited greatly in terms of work ethic and career exploration through County Prep’s Medical Science program. While studying English with a concentration in Creative Writing at Montclair State University she served as a Teen Scene Columnist for the Jersey Journal. Being an engaged student leader, she recognized her passion for leadership and student development which led her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education.Today, Dominique is an accomplished student development professional with over 10 years of experience guiding individuals through college readiness, recruitment, and academic success programming. She believes in cultivating our student’s potential and ultimately elevating the Jersey City Community through our student's success.
